Who this is for

Owner-operators and small crews who track leads in a notebook, texts or a spreadsheet and keep losing follow-ups.

What a CRM should do for a trade business

  1. Keep every customer's contact info and job history in one place.
  2. Track each estimate from "lead" to "won/lost" so nothing slips.
  3. Remind you to follow up.
  4. Let a second person see the same info.

Where the free tier fits

HubSpot lists a free CRM tier on its pricing page. Contact records, a deal pipeline and tasks cover the first three needs above for many small shops. Check the current free-plan limits (users, features) on that page — we won't quote numbers that change.

Where it doesn't fit

  • Dispatching, route scheduling, on-site invoicing and job costing are field-service features; HubSpot is a CRM/marketing platform. Field-service tools such as Jobber or Housecall Pro are built for that.
  • If you want automated multi-step email sequences, the pricing page shows which paid tier includes them.

A simple setup for a 1–5 person shop

  1. Create a pipeline with stages: New lead → Site visit scheduled → Estimate sent → Follow-up → Won / Lost.
  2. Import your existing customer list from a spreadsheet.
  3. Create a task for every estimate: follow up in 3 days.
  4. Review the pipeline every Monday.

Bottom line
